She was rushed to the emergency hospital with severe diarrhea and the possibility of either parvo or a massive case of worms. The hospital was able to stabilize Allie and she is responding well to medication.
Please, help the rescue by donating to help pay Allie's vet bills. It's even tax deductible!! The cost of the hospitalization and supportive care will be close to $1,500.

Progress updates from will be posted as we receive them from Sandy Cryder (Russell Rescue in Virginia).

June 29 - From Allie
Hi, my name is AllieHello my Russell Rescue friends. Here I am, snoozing w/ my new friend, Ginger, while Momma Sandy is at the computer. I'm doing ever so much better! I'm getting around really well, am starting to run a bit and have even figured out how to get through the doggie door. I've discovered balls - my friend Rocky chases them -- I just chew them! Thank you again for being so kind as to help with my doctor's bills. As you can see, I'm finally gaining weight and am feeling very frisky these days! Love, Allie.

Hello Everyone! I am feeling absolutely great!! My friend, Tommy the Cat, my foster momma and I took a nice long walk up and down the gravel road and through the long grass in the pasture. I am getting stronger every day and am using both hind legs now when I walk. When I get tired, I just sit down and rest. Yesterday, Momma Sandy started mixing in some dry food w/ my hamburger and rice and I'm starting to eat it with gusto as well. I am gaining weight but still look a little skinny. Soon I'll be fat and sassy again. I can now walk up and down the couple of steps to the dog yard, I'm no longer isolated nor do I need to be hand-walked all the time. I can join the other dogs in their play yard. Again, let me thank all my Russell Rescue friends for helping me. As you can see, I have responded very well to my treatment. Love, Allie

Hi everyone! I'm getting stronger every day although I'm still pretty stiff (especially when I get up in the morning). I'm getting to know the barn cats (just wait until I can finally CHASE them - tee hee!). I'm walking more and more but still have a ways to go before I'll run and play like I used to. I'm lucky 'cuz I get fed 3 or 4 times a day while all the other dogs only get fed twice a day. Momma Sandy is trying to fatten me up! Thank you again for your kind thoughts, prayers and donations. Love, Allie.

Hi, my name is AllieHello everyone. I am eating VERY well. My foster Momma is giving me wonderful homemade meals several times a day so I can stop looking so skinny. I feel so good I even "crabwalked" my way over to Tommy, the barn cat, and thought about chasing him. Tommy gave me a smack in the face for my impertinence! I've really enjoyed lying in the sunshine and the nice green grass - it feels as good as a spa! I still sleep a lot and get tired quickly (especially after I tried to chase Tommy). I'm really just lulling him into a sense of complacency -- when I am back to my normal self, Tommy better watch out!!! Thank you again to all my terrier loving friends for being so kind as to donate to my medical expenses.

Hi, my name is AllieHello all my Russell Rescue friends. I'm finally out of the hospital and in Momma Sandy's home. I'm feeling so much better - the vet says I did NOT have parvo for which Momma Sandy is grateful. I am starting to use my back legs again (although I look a little like a crab says my Momma Sandy). Here I am enjoying the sunshine in my outdoor kennel. I will need to have my daily medication and some warm compresses on my legs but I'm actually taking a little interest in the outdoor cat! Thank you again to all my wonderful friends.

Good news! Allie gets to go to her foster home on Monday! She is bright, alert and eating well. She is regaining some use of her right back leg although the left still has a ways to go. With physical therapy from her foster Mom and some TLC she has a good chance of recovering fully. The vet was amazed that she did as well as she has and felt that another breed might not have fared as well as a jack russell terrier. You go girl!

There is good news and bad news concerning Allie. Allie is responding well to the treatment for her intestinal problems, is eating well and is more alert. The bad news -- Allie seems to have thrown a clot and her back legs have lost some of their mobility. Hopefully with treatment and therapy at her foster home, she'll regain full mobility. This poor pupper has had to go through a lot in her few short months of life! The vet hopes she'll be able to be moved to a foster home soon. Her vet bill has increased to $1,500.

Allie is starting to eat and is feeling much better. She now can hold food down so that the vet can give her worming medicine. The vet is doing another blood test to see how she is responding to the treatment and is going to give her an intravenous supplement to boost her energy levels. It is still uncertain whether it was parvo or a secondary infection caused by a large number of intestinal worms. We suspect poor Allie was never wormed as a puppy. She definitely seems to be rallying! She's a fighter!
