Fractured Leg, Broken Toes |
Hi! My name is Libby and I am not quite three months old. I was surrendered to the Arlington, TX shelter as a stray. Not sure how that happened. I would never run off. I was injured when the shelter received me. Then, someone stepped on me at the shelter. Now, I was really in a fix. A shelter walker (Ms. Gina Piner) took a pic of me at the shelter. She emailed my foster Mom at RRI. RRI came to get me. I was really glad. Shelter walkers help dogs like me. It was New Year's Eve and my time was up. My back leg was fractured and all the toes in my front foot were broken. My front foot was swollen and my back leg was hanging. My foster Mom thought I was really cute despite my injuries. I went to see Dr. Norris at Buckner Terrace Animal Clinic in Dallas. I got X-rays. I need three pins in my toes on my right front foot. I also need my fractured back left leg stabilized. I am a real trooper. I don't let on that I am in pain. Dr. Norris said I am incredible!
I will be going thru surgery soon. I will let you know how it goes. I want to get back on my feet soon. My foster Mom has nicknamed me Bonnie Blue. She said I am as cute as Bonnie Blue Butler in Gone with the Wind. I am not sure who that is. Guess I need to rent the DVD.
Progress updates are posted below.

January 25, 2008 - From Libby
Hi. It is Libby again. Well, I had my surgery. I got my leg set and pins in the toes of my front foot. Even though, I have three legs bandaged, I get around really well. I don’t let it get me down. I have to go to the vet clinic for checkups and bandage changes. All the staff at Buckner Terrace Animal Clinic is really nice and thinks I am cute. I try to be still when they change my bandage. However, I think my puppyness gets the better of me. I just get so excited when the focus of attention is on me!
I am wearing a hat now so I won’t bother my bandages. I am supposed to email that pic when my foster Mom can take it. I will try to cooperate and be still.
I am very happy. What more could a little girl want? I am a Rescue dog! I have been saved!
