Jack Russell Terrier in need of medical assistance
Last Update: Jan 16, 2011
Location: Arlington, Texas
Dog Name: Minnie
Sex: Female
Age: 4 months
Known Issues: Broken Leg
Background

Run, Run, Run, play, jump, yippee, I just ......OUCH.....my leg, it hurts. Somehow in my little 4 months I have broken my left front leg. I'm just a little thing at 6 lbs and I don't let my injury get me down. I still love to cuddle, run, play, hop, skip, and jump, but wow, think of what I could do if I had my leg fixed. Russell Rescue has been generous to get my leg fixed so I can be adopted out to a wonderful family, but I need some help paying for my medical bills. My surgery will be done by a experienced equine/canine orthopedic surgeon and I'm excited that Dr. Dean will be taking care of me. He said that cute little girls like me are special and should be able to run and play without pain. Soon, very soon, I will be able to cuddle in a lap and not have my leg hurting. Oh and if you are wondering if I will make a full recovery- no worries my friend, I will. Little Miss Minnie will be back on her paws in no time. So maybe in the meantime you can help out by donating some "Pennies for Minnie". My foster family will send updates as I progress and heal. If you want to adopt me, please fill out an adoption application.

Progress updates are posted below.

Progress Updates
January 16 - From Minnie

MinnieToday I went back to see Dr. Dean and he said I am healing! I still need my splint on for 2 more weeks and of course stay in a small kennel. He said it will be tough for a little puppy to stay calm, but it is important for me to heal correctly. Don't worry, I promise I will be good Dr. Dean.

Thanks to those who have donated towards my medical bills, Russell Rescue can't save dogs without your help.

Love, Minnie

P.S. they had a kitty at the clinic and I REALLY wanted to chase her...maybe a home without kitties would be best! Hehe, I am a terrier after all.

Minnie Guess what, I had my surgery and I didn't get just one plate, but two! My little leg was so fragile that I had to have 2 plates but I will be able to run with the big dogs soon enough. I have had to adjust to life after surgery, but my foster family says I am doing well for such a young puppy. I have to sit in a kennel most of the day and it has to be a small kennel because Dr. Dean doesn't want me moving around too much. I can go outside on a leash only to potty and then I have to go back in my kennel. I have some sleepy pills that I sometimes take because I get frustrated that I can't walk around outside. But on the other paw, I get lots of attention when my foster family gets home. They sit down and hold me on the couch and I just love to fall asleep in their laps. I even got to read an electronic book about dogs. I love looking at the TV or computer screen and turn my head side to side. I think someday I will understand what they are saying. It is getting a little cold in Texas right now and tomorrow I might see my first snow. I wonder if it will be cold on my little toes?

I heard that people are hearing about my story and I'm so honored that I'm loved. My foster family says I am the sweetest dog they have had in foster. There will be more updates to come as I get my split off in 4 weeks. I have been a good little girl and I have left my wrapped leg alone, so I don't have to wear that silly collar. Yippppee! I hope that the new year has brought you joy and great times, I know I am blessed to have Russell Rescue helping me out. I can only get my surgery paid for by generous people like you, so thanks for the help.

Stay warm friends- little Miss Minnie

January 3 - From Minnie

Tomorrow is my surgery. I'm kind of scared. Dr. Dean said it will all be ok in a few hours, but I'm not too sure how long I will be out from playing with my friends. I gotta go since I want to be able to play with them one more time before I go to the hospital.
