Rescue Success Story - Max
Max is a special dog and always makes me smile and makes me feel calm. I'm a single mother and sometimes with the stresses of being the only parent sadness will creep in but Max is always there with a smile a wag of his tail and an extra cuddle.

He's awesome with the horses and will gladly come and collect polo balls with me after a match. He's great with my son and a very special part of my family of 3. Currently I'll be looking to put him in an agility class and will keep you all updated.

Rescue Success Story - Milo
Are you considering adoption of a JRT from Russell Rescue? We did just that in May of 2009 and want to share our story just in case it will help you in your decision. If you have experience with the breed you are already half way to adopting a great dog. If not, please read all you can about this unique breed before proceeding.

In March of 2009 we lost our Jack Russell to cancer after 13 great years of companionship. It wasn't long before we began to feel we were ready to start looking for another dog. Of course there are plenty of breeders out there and nothing is cuter than a pup but we had heard of the great work that rescues were doing with homeless JRT's.

Rescue Success Story - Old Miss
Hello, hello hello!! It's me, Old Miss, aka Granny Goose, from the great state of TEXAS!! How is everyone doing? I am so fine! Dr. Justin Bruenig, of Crossroads Vet Hospital, finally OK'd me for dental surgery. Finally! It took a long time because Dr. J, said he didn't want to compromise my health in any way, with me going "under" (under what?) and having surgery. He scraped off lots of icky grey stuff like old cement and pulled three teeth (ow) but left me plenty to eat with. He gave my old teeth back in a little baggy…eeeeuuuwww! Mom was so happy when I got home she cooked me eggs with chicken and rice or dinner. ( Yummm, maybe I should get teeth pulled more often. )

Rescue Success Story - Abbott
Hello, my name is Abbott. I am now in my forever home with my new Mom and Dad and big sister Race, another Jack Russell. I'm three years old now and came from the Austin Animal Control Facility where I was rescued by the two nice ladies that live in Seguin, Texas and run the Jack Russell Rescue for the area.

It seems nobody wanted me because I'm so small. I'm only 8 inches tall! At first, they thought that I might be part Dachund. My new Dad had owned then when he was just a pup and said that was okay. Well, since I've come to live with my new family, he says that he's never known a wiener dog that acts like me so I'm probably just undersized because I'm sure a JRT!!

Rescue Success Story - Brody
Let me introduce you to Brody, he's a Russell Rescue dog that came to live with us eight and a half years ago, he's now ten years old.

As with most rescues, he came with a few issues caused mostly because his previous owners just didn't understand the terrier nature and this particular terrier breed is terrier to the nth degree. I think this is the biggest issue and why so many end up in rescue. People just don't understand what terriers are all about. It's not that they're bad dogs, they just ended up in a situation where nobody understood what these dogs need to be happy and productive members of the household.
