Beware of Snakes!

This past Saturday afternoon Penny learned that sometimes little critters do not want anyone sticking their nose into their business!  Miss Copperhead did not like it when a little cold wet nose touched her nose!  She bit the heck out of Penny who immediately began to get very swollen.  Her foster mom rushed Penny to the emergency vet.  Penny had to spend the night with the doctors and nurses there but was able to come home the next morning.  Her foster mom kept her on crate rest, and gave her special foods and plenty of love and attention.  By that afternoon, she was feeling a lot better and by Monday she was almost back to her happy self.  Penny’s foster mom is not allowing her to go full steam quite yet.  She is keeping a close eye on her.  It’s very hot down here in Texas and we want to make sure she gets completely over it before she is allowed to go back to normal.  We hope that Penny has learned her lesson, but she is a Jack Russell so probably not!!!

We are so grateful Penny is feeling so much better!  And we are very grateful for the excellent vet who took such good care of her.  Overnight care for something like this is expensive.  If you would like to donate to Penny’s care, you can make donations at this link: https://www.russellrescue.com/donations/

Penny will be going to her forever home just as soon as she’s 100%!  She already has an adopter waiting to love her from now on!
